Alexander Valley Vineyards
Zinfandel: Multiple Perspectives on a California Classic
Zinfandel is often called America’s grape and is recognized as the most terroir-driven grape for its expression of the soils and climate. Alexander Valley Vineyards long history with Zinfandel began in 1978 with the first vintage of Sin Zin. We’re raiding the cellar and opening the 1978 Sin Zin to share the story of how it all began at AVV. Then we’ll taste all of our current vintages of Zinfandel to give you a unique look at the varietal and regions where we harvest the grapes. When you taste through each, you’ll soon have a love affair with Zinfandel as well.
Join our wine educator as they guide you through an in-depth sensory experience. Beginning with a lesson on aromas and finishing with a journey into wine and food pairings you will learn techniques that will aid you in your analysis of wine and further enhance your appreciation of the subtle nuances wine can achieve. This fun and educational event will showcase varietals such as Chardonnay, Primitivo and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Jordan Vineyard & Winery
Exploring the Three Cs: Cabernet, Chardonnay, and Cheese
Wine and cheese are frequent companions, but with the seemingly infinite number of flavor variations in both wine and cheese, how do you discover the perfect pairings? The answer: taste, taste, taste – not exactly a hardship for wine and cheese lovers. With that in mind, please join Laura Werlin, a James Beard award-winning author of six books on cheese and self-described “edu-tainer,” and Lisa Mattson of Jordan Winery for an interactive, educational, and delicious tasting of Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon and Jordan Chardonnay paired with a variety of different cheese styles. We will learn how the fruit, oak, acidity and alcohol in wine interact with the salt, fat, and protein in cheese to create good, great, and even the occasional not-so-great pairing too. What works? What doesn’t? With a comprehensive tasting of eight wines and eight cheeses, we will cover the bases and basics to come up with the definitive and ultimate perfect pairs.
