Zia Lena Ravioli Making
Zialena

Zia Lena, “Aunt Lena,” was the great aunt of Mark and Lisa Mazzoni, the fourth generation owners who named the winery for their beloved aunt. Lena was famous in the family for her ravioli. The family is also known for Zinfandel. The Mazzoni Clone is a heritage pre-prohibition Zinfandel clone registered through UC Davis. Come join Lisa Mazzoni and her hospitality staff for a ravioli making session set in the winery’s state of the art winemaking facility. Enjoy Lena’s wonderful ravioli with a flight of estate Mazzoni clone Zinfandels.

Explore Jordan’s Wine Country Table

Guests will enjoy a Champagne reception on the chateau’s terrace, a brief winery tour, and wine tasting under towering oak trees featuring two vintages of Chardonnay with hors d’oeuvre pairings. After a tour of the garden, guests will enjoy two vintages of Cabernet in the chateau dining room with an hors d’oeuvre pairing, artisan cheeses and Jordan Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Taste new release Small Lot Collection wines paired with local artisan cheeses and organic produce from our garden in an intimate setting on our 335-acre mountain vineyard. Sip barrel samples with our winemaker, Ames Morison, and learn more about our sustainable farming methodology.

Ice Cream Competition

Split into groups and choose ingredients from Alexander Valley’s local produce, wine and flavors. Watch as we turn your flavors into ice cream with the aid of a tank of nitrogen! Enjoy a guided tasting as we finish your afternoon treat. Don’t forget, this is a competition! The team that creates the best ice cream walks away with a special prize.

Pizza Making and Wine Experience

While sipping on the beautiful wines of Alexander Valley, guests will join our Culinary Chef in learning the art of making pizza. In this hands-on experience, guests will roll fresh pizza dough, carefully select their ingredients (some freshly picked from our Alexander Valley culinary garden), and learn the perfect technique to cooking in a wood-burning oven. While the pizza bubbles in the oven, we will share the connection between the local ingredients in our Neapolitan-style pizzas and the award winning wines of Alexander Valley.

Experience Alexander Valley at Starlite Vineyards

We will start our experience here with a greeting and guided tour through our vineyards, where you will see three varieties blooming on the vine. After we return, you will be presented with our claret-style Zinfandel, our amazingly elegant and aromatic Viognier and our luscious European-style Cabernet Sauvignon. These will be paired with delicious and unusual pairings on our backyard lawn for a very memorable experience.

Join Seghesio family members Jim and Ned Neumiller, our 4th & 5th generation vineyard managers, as they lead you on an adventure through the 120-year-old vines at our Home Ranch estate, where it all began in 1895. Explore the Zinfandel and Italian varieties on this historic property as you make your way to the top of Rattlesnake Hill. There will be plenty of hydration stops along the way, and your hard work will be rewarded with a flight of four Alexander Valley wines paired with small bites served at a scenic perch overlooking the entire Alexander Valley.

Join Alice Warnecke Sutro for a tour of our 45-year-old Cab vines and terraced Merlot block and a nature walk through the oaks, including a visit to landmark Chalk Hill and views of the Russian River, Mt. St Helena, and Geyser Peak. This ultimate wine country experience offers a unique chance to visit a historic family owned and operated property since 1911: Warnecke Ranch & Vineyards, home to Sutro Wine Co. Following the light hike, winemaker Eliot Sutro will join us to taste the current vintage accompanied by a pairing of local meats, cheeses and larder selections.

Cabernet Sauvignon has always been special at Alexander Valley Vineyards. Join Harry Wetzel high above the winery for a horizontal tasting of our four current releases of Cabernet Sauvignon, including our Single Barrel Selection and a library selection of 1999.

Join master cooper, Jason Butler, for a live barrel making demonstration on the hillside of our estate vineyard. Wine tasting will include Cabernet samples from the barrel and from the bottle, as well as a discussion of barrel aging, and a Q & A with Jason and Jake Hawkes.

Join owner and winemaker, Diane Wilson, as she guides you through an in-depth sensory experience. Beginning with a lesson on aromas and finishing with a journey into wine and food pairings you will learn techniques that will aid you in your analysis of wine and further enhance your appreciation of the subtle nuances wine can achieve. This fun and educational event will showcase varietals, such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Primitivo and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Join our winemaker in the beautiful Alexander Valley, to learn about Bourdeaux varietals and what they each contribute to a final Meritage blend. Merlot Over the Years, A Vertical Tasting

Experience a vertical tasting of our powerful Merlot – four different vintages: 2006, 2007, and 2008 from Magnum and compare to our current vintage on the historic Wetzel Family Estate patio overlooking the Wetzel family gardens.

An intimate experience with our vivacious winemaker, Bill Parker, as he explains what each blending component brings to our Alexander Valley Reserve Bordeaux Blend. Each participant will then try to replicate our finished product for a chance to take it home! Enjoy a light breakfast on our scenic courtyard with the winemaker thereafter.
